Enemy Character Concepts

Seeing as this was a student project our roles were less defined functionally, so everyone had alot more input into the final product.

I played a big role in shaping the identity of the game to something concrete, creating the Title and steering the general visual direction and Western meets Undead premise. (It began as a fantasy game!)

Due to programming time constraints we needed to cut the Large Enemy and boss (Which were going to be done by me) but they got to appear in the Cutscenes.

Our production went quite slowly so I had to pull together a lot of Animations and Rigs in a short amount of time once we figured out what we were making.

I admit that my understanding of what makes good deforming topology at the time was semi-lacking, especially around the elbows and face, which definitely shows up in the animations. There were also some rig errors that I didn't have time to fix.

I'm confident now (especially after refining my Character Pipeline more) that I could tackle this style of character in 3D way more efficiently.

Project to learn the entire Video Game pipeline in all aspects.

While creating pitches for our 2025 AIE production I found myself really wanting to expand on the one I had created, my partner also really enjoyed the idea and so we've been planning it's creation in our spare time.

We're currently working on the Game Bible and I'm building the game prototype.

METATEXTUAL PREMISE

A Niche 2000s Japanese Adventure Game originally titled「海賊島物語」(kaizoku shimamonogatari) aka "Pirate Island Story". that was translated into English without much mind paid to the original text.

The main draws are the nostalgic art style, unique characters and the of the time style humour (alike the Puyo Puyo Genesis Port, Lupin III Part 2 Dub..) coupled with some charmingly badly dubbed dialogue (Sonic Adventure, Lupin III PS1).
